You know how every time you go to the store you seem to end up with 1-2 bags of items NOT on the list? Oh, that Halo Top is Buy One Get One, or there is a new flavor of your favorite bagged popcorn, etc. We all do it!
Here comes the art of mastering that inevitable fate; the kids! Growing up grocery shopping with my mom at our local Hy-Vee grocery – she would send me on missions and say, ‘this is why parents have children, didn’t you know that?’ Genius!
I take three minutes in the car before entering the grocery store – I write items on two sticky notes (strategically choose items staggered throughout the store to further occupy the kiddos) and hand one to each child. This is my secret weapon to master my list and keep away the ‘oh mom can I have that’ stress of walking the aisles with kids. Divide & Distract … Thank you, Mom, for the good training 🙂 Now, just a little treat for me at the checkout out aisle won’t break the bank.
